Shannen Doherty is opening up about drama that went down between the cast of late ‘90s supernatural drama “Charmed.”
Doherty starred on the show for its first three seasons with Alyssa Milano and Holly Marie Combs, and has had issue with the costars for years. On an episode of her podcast (featuring Marie Combs as guest), “Let’s Be Clear with Shannen Doherty,” she said her friendship with Marie Combs was hindered by a “competitiveness” between her and Milano.
As the show’s second season went on, Marie Combs had surgery to remove a potentially cancerous tumor and Doherty claims Milano and her mother wouldn’t let her visit the hospital.
"Hospitals scared me to death," Doherty said. "I waited 24 hours after your surgery to go and then it wasn't even easy for me to get in. I was being told I couldn't even get in. Alyssa and her mom were blocking people from seeing you and at the time you didn't know."
Doherty recalled a text from Marie Combs saying “Dude are you going to come and see me?”
The podcast host said not visiting her costar had her feeling guilt and regret.
"I also felt my anger at the situation of not being allowed to come see you and how a sort of family had swooped in," Doherty added, "It caused a weird divide between the two of us that continued throughout season two, where I think I cried every single night."
"We all had bad days, we all had good days," Marie Combs said about their time on “Charmed.” "We all could have behaved better at certain points but there was a lack of awareness of a bigger broader picture."
Doherty also revealed her 2015 breast cancer diagnosis had Milano reach out to her and offer support.
