Reports: Times Square 'Naked Cowboy' arrested in Florida

NEW YORK (WCBS 880) – New York City’s “Naked Cowboy” was arrested at a gathering of bikers in Florida on Saturday, according to multiple reports.

The Times Square fixture, whose real name is Robert Burck, was busted for aggressive panhandling and resisting an officer without violence at Daytona Beach’s annual Bike Week, the Orlando Sentinel reported.

Video posted to YouTube appears to show Burck being arrested by Daytona Beach Police while wearing his classic getup, including a cowboy hat and white briefs.

“Free the cowboy!” one man yells in the video as witnesses boo Burck's arrest.

Burck told a judge at his court hearing that "I sing and play guitar in my underwear," according to Fox 35 Orlando. "I'm the Naked Cowboy from New York City. I've been coming down here 21 years in a row."

"I'm not asking for money, I just play the guitar and people take pictures and sometimes they put money in," he said, adding that he accepted responsibility.

Burck was released on Sunday after the judge dismissed the panhandling charge and allowed him to plead no contest to the charge of resisting an officer, according to the reports. He was ordered to pay $223 in court fees in addition to time served.
