Hollywood is mourning the loss of…
Maggie Smith, who played Professor McGonagall in the "Harry Potter" films and Violet Crawley in "Downton Abbey," has died at the age of 89.
Drake Hogestyn, who played John Black on "Days of Our Lives" for nearly four decades, has died after a battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 70 years old. John first appeared on the soap opera in 1986 and went on to play the role of John Black in more than 4200 episodes.
Kris Kristofferson, an actor with 50+ years on-screen and a singer/songwriter in multiple music halls of fame, has passed at the age of 88.
He was best known for films like "Convoy," "A Star Is Born" (for which he earned a Golden Globe award), the "Blade" trilogy, and Tim Burton's "Planet of the Apes" among many more.
And, John Ashton, best known for playing Detective Sergeant John Taggart in the "Beverly Hills Cop" movies opposite Eddie Murphy and Judge Reinhold, has passed at 76 after a lengthy battle with cancer. During his 50 years in Hollywood, John appeared in more than 200 film, TV and stage productions, but his role in the BHC franchise was by far his most recognized. John was born in Springfield, MA, and grew up in Enfield, CT before he began his career.
It's no secret that Johnny Depp will probably never be asked to return to the big screen as Captain Jack Sparrow, but that didn't stop Johnny from donning the dreads, eyeliner and pirate garb this past weekend. He did it to visit a children's hospital in San Sebastián, Spain, where he was for the premiere of his film "Modi." The hospital staff and kids were beyond thrilled. As for Hollywood overall, Johnny may be done with it all at this point. During a press conference at the Cannes Film Festival, he said, "Do I feel boycotted now? No, not at all. But, I don't feel boycotted by Hollywood because I don't think about it. I don't think about Hollywood. I don't have much further need for Hollywood myself."
In an interview with "ABC News," Joaquin Phoenix said Lady Gaga encouraged him to record his "Joker: Folie A Deux" vocals live with her.
He didn't think he would be able to pull it off, but Lady Gaga is assuring us that what we hear from Joaquin will be worth it and much better than if he had lip-synched.
Weddings for…
"Summertime Sadness" singer Lana Del Rey married her fiancé, alligator tour guide Jeremy Dufrene, in Louisiana. Sources say she found her dress in a New Orleans thrift shop for under $400. The intimate ceremony took place Thursday night at Airboat Tours by Arthur in Des Allemands, Louisiana, where Jeremy works.
"Pitch Perfect" star Rebel Wilson married Ramona Agruma this Saturday in Sardinia, Italy, with a small guest list of close friends and family. They were originally planning to marry next year, but Rebel reportedly moved up the wedding date because she couldn't wait any longer after finding her "Disney Princess."
Anna Delvey, who was convicted of grand larceny for pretending to be an heiress and convincing people to invest in her fake schemes, claims she wasn't given a "fair chance" on "Dancing with the Stars" and feels exploited by the show. She told "NBC News," "The show so obviously used me to drive up the ratings… they never had any plans to give me any chance to grow and only cared about exploiting me for attention." After responding to Julianne Hough's question on the night she was eliminated about what she'd take away from the experience, Anna said, "Nothing," and she later told "Good Morning America" that her favorite part was "getting eliminated." Playing the "woe is me card," Anna added, "Not sure when people will finally afford me that second chance and stop persecuting me so I have the opportunity to move on with my life." Maybe when you finally leave this country and go back to Germany like you were supposed to so long ago?
