V-103 Atlanta: Greg Street talks with Victoria Monet

Stopping by V-103 Atlanta, Victoria Monét chopped it up Greg Street about her journey as a singer-songwriter and latest single "On My Mama."

"I came to LA actually to pursue being an artist and then you know writing kind of took off before artistry did," Victoria admitted. She "started actually" with GRAMMY Award-winning producer, Darkchild, "I was signed in 2009," and from there she continued to write and network, which allowed her to really dive into her singing bag she says.

As her pen is extremely diverse, Monét has worked with artists across Pop and Urban markets, the biggest difference she has realized in working with the two is budgets. "I feel like when you have a pop artist... music videos and everything tend to be a lot more elaborate, and I think maybe more support," she admits.

Her latest single, "On My Mama," which she describes as, "positive affirmations to self," she says was inspired by her experience becoming a new mother. "I wrote it at a time where I didn't feel like I looked good," she says. "I was going through postpartum, hormones were everywhere."
