Award Submission: A massive fire broke out in South Minneapolis on October 20th at an abandoned and controversial Kmart site. Built in the 1970s, the site cut off part of the neighborhood, then became one of the focal points during the George Floyd riots. The city planned to demolish the building, but an early morning fire broke out speeding the process along. A cause was never determined. Here is WCCO's breaking news coverage of the massive blaze.
