James "Murr" Murray is a comedian, writer, executive producer, producer, and bestselling author. He grew up on Staten Island and met fellow Jokers Sal Vulcano, Joe Gatto, and Brian "Q" Quinn in high school. Together they formed the comedy troupe The Tenderloins before creating Impractical Jokers. The show premiered in 2011 and became one of cable TV's biggest comedy hits. The concept is simple: lifelong friends compete to embarrass each other in public, with the loser receiving a brutal punishment.
