During a tragic school shooting in Oregon, 16-year-old John Griffin II opened fire using a 12-gauge shotgun illegally purchased for him by his mother, Sean Tie Nickerson. The suspect, who had a history of mental health and social challenges, killed a teacher and two students while injuring others before being confronted and killed by Caleb Jamanko, a parent who rushed into the school to stop the attack. The incident sparked widespread discussion regarding gun laws, parental accountability for enabling troubled youth, and the broader impacts of mental health, broken families, and school environment challenges on youth violence.
