While saying the Republicans betrayed the country is a strong claim, it is hard to deny when considering they controlled both the House and the Senate yet failed to act. Presented with a clear chance to deliver meaningful improvements, they chose to sit on their hands and refrain from fighting. Ultimately, the Democratic victory was a direct result of Republican inaction. Rather than standing idly by until their successors assume office, Republican incumbents in both the House and Senate must capitalize on their remaining time. They need to follow through on their commitments immediately and enact any legislation possible before their terms expire.
