During the Y98 halftime show, Jen Siess chatted with CITY’s Sporting Director, Corey Wray, after the close of the MLS secondary transfer window with CITY coming up big with three great signings to add to the roster. Wray talked about managing patience in a highly-pressured window with a process-driven focus to stay on task despite outside pressures. He also shared the club’s desire to create a team that is “nice on the ball” and “quite ugly” without it - with players who create relentless pressure all game long. Wray also took some time to talk through each of CITY’s new signings from the talented work on and off the ball by new DP striker Rafael Navarro, to the tall forward Damion Downs who can help to stretch opponents, and Charles-Emile Brunet to bolster and develop in the central midfield. Finally, Wray shared his optimism in continuing to raise CITY’s ceiling, how the new MLS season may change the recruiting process, and why he can only do what he does with the support of his family.
