The owner of Star One Tobacco on West 103rd Street in Oak Lawn called police on Wednesday about 3 a.m. after seeing a man inside his closed store via a live security camera feed.
Minutes later, Oak Lawn Police say they found 31-year-old Andre Starkes of Chicago not far from Star One Tobacco, carrying merchandise from the store.
Police say the felony and misdemeanor charges against Starkes include animal cruelty because he allegedly removed a caged canary from the tobacco shop and left it outdoors in the cold air.
