A fight over one mile of Forest Lawn Drive has somehow become a decision for Governor Newsom. The city had long been planning to remove traffic lanes and add protected bike lanes for safety. The two famous cemeteries nearby objected, saying it could interfere with funeral processions. Mayor Bass then put the project on hold.
But as the session wrapped up in Sacramento, state lawmakers slipped language into a bill that applies to cities with 2 million people... when a street serves at least two cemeteries. In other words, as KNX News' Alex Silverman reports, it would kill only THIS project on THIS street.
