Heritage Foundation foreign policy expert Jim Carafano joins the show to assess the state of the Russia-Ukraine war following overnight Ukrainian drone strikes on a Russian oil refinery. Carafano breaks down his latest analysis in 1945, emphasizing that the Trump administration's core objective remains securing an independent, sovereign Ukraine capable of defending itself while avoiding open-ended American combat entanglement. Pushing back on assumptions that Ukraine prefers a Democratic-controlled Congress, Carafano details his direct discussions in New York with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, noting that U.S. weapons deliveries and battlefield momentum remain sustained while diplomatic negotiation hurdles lie entirely with Vladimir Putin. The segment concludes with Carafano weighing in on the dismissal of Joint Staff Director for Strategy, Plans, and Policy Lieutenant General Brett Sylvia, calling the unauthorized disclosure of classified Pentagon information an unforgivable breach of duty.
