The crew gets several early laughs out of “scuba,” with Nick wondering how quickly his daughters will abandon every phrase the moment he starts saying it.
Dawn’s news begins with the nor’easter bringing wind, coastal flooding and beach erosion to the Jersey Shore. We move through the Dale Caldwell controversy in New Jersey, the widening Eugene Horsch investigation in Olney, Marson Weh’s first-degree murder conviction in the killing of Michael Garr and the arrest of Christian Arevalo after the Hightstown assault investigation. Dawn also discusses families of violent-crime victims and the eight reported suicide attempts across the Abraham Lincoln carrier strike group.
Nick closes the hour with his Big Take on the Senate. He argues that Congress is putting energy into college-sports legislation and hearings about women’s sports while the SAVE America Act remains unresolved. Dawn pushes back on one part of Nick’s argument and stresses the real effect that male athletes competing in women’s events can have on girls and families. We then debate John Thune, Republican priorities and whether elected officials benefit politically from leaving certain disputes unresolved.
