One of the oldest known letters written by Benjamin Franklin is on display in Philadelphia, but you only have until Thursday to see it and several dozen other rarities in person.
The Library Company at 13th and Locust streets is exhibiting part of the Jay T. Snider Collection of Benjamin Franklin.
Next month, Sotheby’s will auction off 156 pieces of the exhibit, which is owned by the son of Flyers founder Ed Snider.
Franklin’s note that is on display was written to a surveyor about a book purchase, dated June 12, 1738. It is the earliest of his letters ever to go up for auction.
