A seven-week-old girl from East Germantown is in the hospital after police say she was physically abused. It was the second time in 24 hours she had to be taken to the hospital. The parents are now in custody.
Philadelphia police say the investigation began on Friday, when the parents took the baby to the hospital. She had bruising and other serious injuries.
Doctors at CHOP recommended the baby be admitted, but her father took her home without medical release.
Police went to their home near East Penn and Magnolia streets Saturday afternoon. That's where they arrested the parents and brought the baby back to CHOP.
It's not clear how severely the baby was hurt. Investigators are looking into how the injuries happened.
