A Montgomery County police officer fatally shot a man who officials say tried to break into a home in Upper Pottsgrove Township early Sunday morning.
District Attorney Kevin Steele says it was close to 12:30 a.m. when the officer spotted the man in the back of a home on Snyder Road after responding to a call of a possible break-in at the residence.
Officials say the officer then got into an encounter with him and fired a shot, striking and killing him.
It's unknown whether the man was armed.
Montgomery County officials are investigating exactly what happened.
