Two New Jersey brothers accused of stealing gas own some of the Freedom Fuel Network convenience stores around Philadelphia. Those star-spangled stores have been selling gas at $3.47 per gallon in honor of President Donald Trump.
The Associated Press is reporting that 14 stations in the Philadelphia-area network are controlled by companies linked to Shamikh and Syed Kazmi, two brothers who have been dogged by a string of misconduct accusations, including fraud.
Earlier this year, they were ordered to pay civil damages for unlawfully taking 230,000 gallons of fuel. The supplier says it still hasn't been paid the $600,000 fine.
Syed Kazmi was sued by 7-Eleven two years ago and lost. The store chain accused him of “dishonest, unethical, immoral” conduct while operating a franchise in Lawrenceville, New Jersey. The store was flagged for unsanitary conditions that included trash issues and a rodent infestation. Syed Kazmi was fined $380,000.
The brothers declined to comment.
