Severe storm rips through the Philly region, knocking out power, downing trees and blowing off roofs

Crews are out Sunday morning in the city and suburbs cleaning up downed trees, wires, and collapsed roofs from Saturday's wicked storms. The National Weather Service says there were at least four microbursts in our region. These straight-lined winds reached over 60 mph. Dozens of residents had to be evacuated from a Philadelphia Housing Authority apartment building around 55th and Vine streets. Officials said the building suffered water damage and residents have been temporarily put in hotels and replacement units. In the suburbs, parts of southern Montgomery County got some bad damage. Lower Merion Township declared a state of emergency. Downed trees and wires have blocked a lot of roads. PECO says about 10,000 people are still without power.
