President Trump says he and a group of top tech leaders have signed a voluntary agreement on developing Artificial Intelligence technology.
Asked whether this accord was binding in any way, President Trump said it's "morally" binding.
The accord says the companies will implement “robust internal controls,” partner with an “independent external auditor” to assess whether the controls are working, and establish a committee within each company's board of directors to evaluate reports from internal and external auditors.
It says “over time, it may make sense to codify these steps into laws and regulations.”
Tech executives have been calling for a slowdown in innovation over fears that AI models could go rogue and pose a threat to humanity.
