The Yankees finally have the dominant starting pitching they’ve been missing, but their lifeless offense threatens to waste it. Shaun Morash is in for Evan Roberts alongside Tiki Barber, and Shaun sees reasons for optimism after the Yankees took two of three from Atlanta, especially with George Lombard Jr. injecting energy, defense and confidence into the lineup. Tiki remains far more concerned about a team that has played .500 baseball without Aaron Judge and still struggles to score.
The debate turns to whether Lombard should already be hitting leadoff, how much patience Aaron Boone should have with Jazz Chisholm and Trent Grisham, and whether the Yankees can survive a potential Wild Card showdown with the surging Red Sox. Even with Judge and Cody Bellinger potentially returning, the Yankees may need their pitching to carry them in October.
