The Yankees are staring at a 2-0 hole against the Rays after a stunning defensive meltdown that Evan Roberts and Tiki Barber struggle to explain. Four official errors, additional costly miscues and another lifeless offensive performance have the Yankees looking like a team that short-circuits when the postseason pressure rises.
Evan and Tiki debate whether the turf played a role, how much responsibility belongs to Aaron Boone and whether the Yankees’ lack of accountability has become an organizational problem. With just five hits and two runs through two games, the offense is every bit as concerning as the defense. The series technically isn’t over, but after a loss this ugly, it certainly feels that way.
