The Yankees need a new offensive identity after another crushing postseason exit. Evan Roberts and Tiki Barber dig into a decade of American League results showing just how important avoiding strikeouts has been to reaching the World Series, and why the Yankees must prioritize hitters who consistently put the ball in play.
Luis Arraez emerges as an obvious target who could bring elite contact to the lineup, while the Yankees also need to solve their positional logjams and find stability around Aaron Judge, Ben Rice and their young talent. Plus, Aaron Boone’s future remains under scrutiny, but a looming lockout could make replacing him far more complicated than it seems.
