Former NFL QB Ben DiNucci from CBS Sports joined the show. Ben played under Mike McCarthy and was the perfect guy to ask about Big Mike keeping 4 QBs on the Steelers 53-man roster. Ben was the QB3 in his first year under McCarthy and he mostly stood around at practice until injuries forced him into the fire. So, what will it look like with 4 guys? Ben expects Aaron Rodgers to get a ton of reps as a guy who never really takes a practice off. Ben thinks McCarthy will still be the main coach for the QBs and it’s not just an off-season thing. Ben said he didn’t see any glaring things that Will Howard did in the preseason that was better than Drew Allar. Ben understands Will’s position as a fellow late-round pick that hung around the league for a few years. Ben wondered if the room will still have 4 active QBs next week or long into the season. Ben talked about the open mind young QBs need to have and why that may explain his reasoning to keep all 4. How does Ben view Mason Rudolph as the team’s backup QB? Ben said a ton by not saying anything about Matt Canada coaching him at Pitt.
