Kyle Dubas spoke to the media following the health scare suffered by Ben Kindel as the team was departing from Utah over the weekend. It sounds like Kindel avoided big-time danger after he fainted on the team plane. Dubas stated that Kindel could return to practice sooner rather than later. Did the Penguins sidestep disaster here?
How dangerous are things in France? We have heard people strike fear into the situation for weeks, but many people with boots on the ground say things are fine. The Steelers have canceled their fan event set for Saturday afternoon.
Steelers reporter Ray Fittipaldo from the PG joined the show. Ray compared Paris to New York City due to the large police presence. He isn’t sure if that’s because of the NFL involvement, but it’s all pretty quiet otherwise. Ray pointed out that the Steelers also left late for their game in Dublin last season, but recalled the 2013 squad complaining about the late departure impacting their performance. Ray thinks Robert Spears-Jennings will have his snap count go down to a degree, but we should expect to see plenty of him on the field. Ray believes the return of DeShon Elliott is good news for Jaquan Brisker, who hasn’t been great in his first season with his hometown team. Ray wants to see the Steelers sending Jalen Ramsey more and more in creative blitzing packages. Ray thinks a Brian Thomas Jr. trade makes more sense if you have a clue who your QB will be in a few years. Ray explained how the Steelers practice schedule will differ as they get to France for the game on Sunday. Ray thought the Steelers end-of-game clock management was ‘coaching malpractice’ and they were fortunate to come out of there with a win.
