Did we get our first look at the new Buccos bullpen last night? Well, not totally, but we saw a glimpse of how they could work some of the guys in the late innings. In the 4-3 win over Milwaukee, the Pirates were able to use Gregory Soto in the 6th followed by Camilo Doval and Mason Montgomery. What will it look like once the reinforcements show up? Some of the writers around the league didn’t care for the Pirates deadline haul. Why? The guys couldn’t really find a good reason to say they didn’t.

Marlins TV pre-post game host Craig Mish joined the show. Craig was able to give the skinny on Lake Bachar, who the Pirates acquired from Miami yesterday for a few lower-tier prospects. Craig said Lake can be ‘a little out there’ like other relievers in baseball. Craig thinks the Marlins got the most out of Bachar, which explains the trade even with Miami in the playoff race. Craig told the guys what to expect from Bachar when he’s on the hill. Craig doesn’t foresee Bachar as the Pirates future closer, but thinks the 6th or 7th inning could be his home. What’s the future like for Lake in Pittsburgh?
