93.7 The Fan MLB analyst Matt Clement joined the show. Matt was very impressed by Mason Montgomery’s dominant 8th inning last night. He was unsure why Montgomery did not come out for the 9th, and he is also unsure of why Gregory Soto didn’t pitch the 8th inning. Matt thinks that Wilber Dotel is the Pirates’ high leverage right-hander as of right now, with Yohan Ramirez kind of serving as the swiss army knife. Matt also disagreed with the decision to pull Valdez to pinch-run Billy Cook on second base in the 8th.
More w/ Matt – Ken Rosenthal said that the Pirates are aggressively pursuing Luke Weaver. Poni asks Matt if the Pirates would be willing to Pay Luke Weaver 12.5 million dollars next season, to which he is not sure. Matt says that he would do anything in his power to trade either Murf Gray or Florentino to get Miller, but he would not trade Seth Hernandez.
More w/ Matt – Is it possible that the Pirates end up trading Brandon Lowe at the deadline? Matt thinks that they would probably have to lose the next 3 to the Reds to consider moving Lowe.
