Which college QB should we circle if the Steelers are in the market for one? Mike DeFabo said the answer is Ole Miss QB Trinidad Chambliss. Chambliss has some notable warts – he would be 25 by the start of next season and is only listed at 6’0. Chambliss has a cool story – a former DII transfer to P4 stardom with the Rebels that led the team to the CFB semifinal last season. Would the Steelers (or the fans) be able to get over the size of the player? The Steelers have had more of their history tied to ‘big’ QBs, including Will Howard and Drew Allar. An issue for Chambliss is how 2026 has gone for him – after fighting to have the extra year in the first place. Can he be the next Russell Wilson?
Former NFL QB Ben DiNucci from CBS Sports joined the show. Ben reacted to the clip of Dan Orlovsky not knowing that percentages were based off 100. Ben shared that he was actually smart enough to get into Penn. Ben said he ‘loves’ Trinidad Chambliss and watching him play. Ben doesn’t think size is as important at QB as it once was in the NFL. Ben said teams will consider the QB’s height when it comes to plays over the middle of the field, but scheme will create that difference. Ben pointed to players like Brock Purdy and Bryce Young that are getting it done in the league right now. Ben believes there is still so much potential around Arch Manning and he should be viewed as a top tier QB entering the draft. Drew Mestemaker is a player Ben labeled as a slam-dunk 1st round quarterback, but are the comparisons getting a bit too strong? Does Ben see the Steelers as a contender or is there still reason to doubt at 5-2? He reacted to what he saw from the team in Paris? Ben shared that Rico Dowdle was in the same draft class as him and they came into the league together in Dallas. Ben likes the honesty and transparency from Mike McCarthy in some of his press conferences or messages to the team.
