Is this the biggest meeting between the Steelers and Browns since the 2020 playoff game? It’s the first regular season game between the teams in Pittsburgh in which both teams are over .500 since 2007. Is this QB matchup even? NFL dot com thinks Aaron Rodgers is the 17th best QB in the league and Deshaun Watson is just one spot behind him. Where are the Browns better than the Steelers? We noticed how rough Watson has been on the road this season in hopes the trend continues.
The Kordell Stewart documentary debuted last night. How many people watched it? Is it more of a story about a player that was mistreated by fans, before his time or both? Kordell has talked about his comps to players like Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen, but Poni wondered about Jalen Hurts.
Mike Florio from Pro Football Talk joined the show. Mike is still close to Pittsburgh and has been for a long time, so he recalled the treatment of Kordell Stewart in the 90’s from a fan and football perspective. Mike compared Kordell to Major Harris as players well ahead of their time. The league wasn’t ready for Harris, but it may have paved the way for someone like Kordell to reach the heights he did. Mike thinks the Browns may keep Deshaun Watson if they make the playoffs after multiple horrific seasons in Cleveland. The Colts made a pair of trades yesterday and clearly are not done. Mike pondered if the Colts will sit Jonathan Taylor as his name pops up around trade rumors. Mike said it’s an interesting choice by the Jaguars to not showcase Brian Thomas Jr. when it’s clear he’s not in their plans. Mike explained why there was not a flex to get Eagles-Commanders off Sunday Night Football with multiple better games in the early windows for Week 8. Mike was under the impression that if a matchup was already played in prime time (or scheduled for prime time) at some point in the season, it can’t be again. Lions-Vikings, Bills-Ravens and Chiefs-Broncos are 3 other games that made a lot of sense to move into the SNF spot. Mike reacted to the comments from Aaron Rodgers after the game in Paris and what it means for the future of NFL international play. Mike sees 16 international games in the next CBA, but they will never be on the same weekend.
