Former Steelers OC Todd Haley joined the show. Todd thought the passive aggressive comments from Aaron Rodgers following Sunday’s loss reminded him of Ben Roethlisberger and the battles they used to have. Todd doesn’t want to overreact too much too early to what he has seen from the Steelers offense. Todd has an issue with the play call sequencing through 2 games. Todd likes what the Steelers have in the backfield even though they haven’t been able to get much going that way just yet. Todd talked about the game planning that went behind some of his offenses and the script that opened up games. Todd would like to see some tempo change during a game, which would include some no-huddle, but explained why it’s not easy to maintain throughout the whole game. Todd talked about some signs and signals they used when he was working in Pittsburgh. Todd said ‘window dressing’ is all well and good, but there are times when it means nothing and isn’t effective. Todd explained the background into some of the meetings he had with Big Ben before games and how they figured out what they wanted to start with. How many plays do offensive coordinators take into a given game? Todd said he is a ‘less is more’ guy when it comes to preparation.
Donny Football Debrief – We saw Aaron Donald play for the first time in nearly 900 days last night and it didn’t look like he lost much. He played 32 snaps and had one of the better pass rush win rates than anyone in football this week.
