Bryan Reynolds made a gaffe last night that led to some runs for the Padres in a 5-0 Pirates loss. Reynolds is back out in LF tonight with Paul Skenes on the mound. Skenes’ Cy Young odds have already taken a dip due to the Opening Day disaster. Why are plays like the ones from Reynolds last night and the Oneil Cruz mishaps on Opening Day not ruled as errors? They didn’t get their glove on the ball, but it’s a judgement call that took ordinary effort to make the plays. We knew the Pirates wouldn’t be good defensively, but we are seeing it first-hand in the first week+ of the season.
