Former Steelers OC Todd Haley joined the show. Todd had plenty of fiery encounters with his QBs over the years, so he was great to ask about the Aaron Rodgers-Mike McCarthy tiffs that we have seen already, including the one on Thursday. Todd talked about the West Coast Offense guys that stand behind having the longest play calls in the game’s history. He thinks the easiest way to do it is by number & wristband. Todd gave his thoughts on the receiver work so far through 4 games. Is it possible to run tempo or no-huddle every drive? Todd admitted to being frustrated during the game Thursday night. Todd called back to a moment in the Rams-Eagles playoff game from a few years ago that he thought was a grave mistake by LA. Todd got into the differences of coaching from the press box versus the sideline, and why he prefers being on the field. Todd said there still needs to be a human element to play calling and the process of coaching the game. Todd talked about the ability to call everyone together when changes need made mid-game and why being on the field is vital to him in that sense. Todd liked using his guts and instinct when calling plays, which he found easier from field-level. Todd told the story of Ben Roethlisberger throwing for 6 TDs against the Colts back in 2014, since the Steelers play Indy this weekend. Todd talked about Ben on the golf course and some battles they’ve had over the years. Todd had zero clue that Mike Tomlin played Minecraft, but was always impressed by the video work he had ready to go to rev up the locker room leading into a game.
