Looking for something fun to do St. Patrick's Day weekend? Check out the list below of some events happening in Newport News!

St. Patrick’s Day Party with The Irish Drinking Band at Tradition Brewing
When: Noon to 11 p.m. Friday, March 17
Where: Tradition Brewing Company, 700 Thimble Shoals Blvd.
What: Celebrate St Patrick’s Day all day at Tradition Brewing Company. Grab your friends, green attire, and join them for shenanigans, food, music, and, of course, green beer! Starting at 12 noon, they will have specials on select drafts and 4-pack sto go for the entire day. Veteran-owned food truck, DD214 Smokehouse, will be on-site from 3 to 9 p.m. with a variety of smoked meats and something special just for the party. There will be a daylong hunt for hidden shamrocks in the taproom for cool prizes. For those decked out in their finest green, a costume contest with the best male and female winners will start at 6 p.m. At 6:30, The Irish Drinking Band will tak ethe stage to take the party to the next level! This event is free for all ages and all well-behaved dogs.

Second Street St. Patrick’s Day Meal Specials
When: Friday, March 17, while supplies last!
Where: Second Street American Bistro, 115 Arthur Way
What: The restaurant will celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with traditional Irish meals at lunch and dinner, served with your choice of loaded potato soup or house salad. Their traditional Irish stew (a Guinness-braised domestic lamb stew) is topped with a puff pastry shaped like a shamrock! They’ll also be serving corn beef and cabbage, carrots, onions, and potatoes with a horseradish mustard sauce and a corn muffin. Cocktails include Guinness Stout, Irish coffee, Nutty Irish Joe and, of course, GREEN BEER! These specials are available only on Friday, March 17, while supplies last, so get there early!

31st Annual St. Patty's Day Bash at Cozzy's Comedy Club
When: Doors open at 1 p.m. Live music 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, March 17
Where: Cozzy’s Comedy Club and Tavern, 9700 Warwick Blvd.
What: Cozzy’s, the unofficial official St. Paddy’s Day headquarters on the Peninsula, has been celebrating St. Patrick’s Day for 31 years! Indulge in corned beef and cabbage, potatoes, Shepherd’s pie, bangers, Irish colcannon (mashed potatoes mixed with a green veggie, often cabbage), and other delicious Irish food specialties, but arrive early before it sells out! Additionally, they’ll serve green beer, of course, and offer other drink specials, such as Irish coffee and Irish trashcans. Enjoy Celtic music, merriment, and a bit o’ mayhem starting at 6 p.m. with the Clan MacCool Band. At Cozzy’s, everyone is Irish on March 17th. Don’t have anything green

St. Patrick’s Day Block Party at City Center
When: 5-9 p.m. Friday, March 17
Where: City Center at Oyster Point, Market Stage, Mariners Row
What: Allen Hudson and the Halfmoons, an alternative rock band from Portsmouth, wants you to “Get ready to crush some green beer” with them, starting at 6 p.m. when they perform at the St. Patrick’s Day Block Party at City Center. In addition to the live music, you’ll enjoy food trucks, local brews, and pop-up shops. Proceeds will benefit the Newport News-Carrigaline, (Ireland) Sister Cities program, our newest Sister City partnership. Admission and parking are free.

St. Patrick's Day Silent Skate Party (for 18 & up)
When: 11 p.m. Friday, March 17
Where: Peninsula Family Skating Center, 307 Main St.
What: Have your own little St. Patrick’s Day party in your head! Come to Peninsula Family Skating Center for its “Silent Adult Skate Party” on St. Paddy’s Day. Each guest will receive headphones connected to three different DJs. The channels will be Contemporary, Old School, and House. You pick the channel, so you pick the vibes – plus you can switch throughout the night!
