Shannen Doherty is not giving up.
The “Beverly Hills, 90210” star shared a health update amid her battle with stage 4 breast cancer.
Initially diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015, the actress went into remission in 2017. Earlier this year, the 49-year-old announced the cancer had returned more aggressively.
“It’s like anybody with Stage 4 faces this sort of thing, where others want to put you out to pasture,” Doherty said in a new interview with ELLE magazine. “I’m not ready for pasture. I’ve got a lot of life in me.”
She disclosed how getting the news that the cancer had returned and spread to her spine made her question her relationship with the people in her life.
"I was like, ‘OK, do I have good karma? Do I have bad karma? Why would I have bad karma?’ I started taking stock of my life and the things I’d done, and the things I hadn’t done. How I was with people," Doherty added.
“At the end of that, what I came out with was, I have good karma. It may not seem like it, but I’ve been a really good human being,” the former child star said while appearing to make reference to her tabloid past.
As expected, her health status also has her thinking about her future.
"I haven’t sat down to write letters. That’s something I need to do. There are things I need to say to my mom. I want my husband to know what he’s meant to me," she continued. "But whenever it comes time for me to do it, it feels so final. It feels like you’re signing off, and I’m not signing off."
During the pandemic, Doherty has been in quarantine at her Malibu home with husband Kurt Iswarienko. The photographer shared his thoughts on Doherty’s health struggles.
