After DaBaby made headlines and felt the wrath of JoJo Siwa fans after his choice words, or rather play on words, in a freestyle last month, the rapper says he reached out to her to see if she could perform with him at GRAMMYs.

During his jaunt on the red carpet on Sunday, before the award show got started, DaBaby informed ET, the he “actually reached out to see if she wanted to perform with me at the GRAMMYs. But I heard she’s somewhere working on a project of her own. I won’t say too much. I don’t want to put her business out there. She’s somewhere filming something, though, but I definitely reached out.”

For those who don’t know, DaBaby’s freestyle "Beatbox" went like this, "You a b****, JoJo Siwa, b****,” while holding up a photo of Siwa on his phone. DaBaby later took to Twitter to explain that the line wasn't meant as a diss, but was simply a play on words, and even noted that his daughter is in fact a huge fan of Siwa.

As for the word play at play, you see, DaBaby’s real name is Jonathan - hence “JoJo" and apparently he used Siwa as a twist on "See why.” The word “b****” just happened to be the next word in his rap, and so for those listening who didn’t write the rap, it makes sense as to how it could, and clearly was misconstrued to be insulting to the 17-year-old.

With that said, Baby’s explanation didn’t stop fans from speculating nonetheless, so we’re happy to hear the rapper reached out to JoJo directly to clear the air. And who knows? The GRAMMYs were a no go, but maybe there’s a DaBaby x JoJo Siwa collab in our future, and tbh that track might kinda slap.
