Following up their first short and sweet album, The Album, released in 2020 with this latest project, Jisoo, Rosé, Lisa, and Jennie are back with another 8 songs and that K-pop girl group swag we know and love.

After winning us over with the release of their first single and accompanying music video for “Pink Venom," now, in addition to the album, BLACKPINK is back in our area with the album’s second song and their second single/music video combo for “Shut Down.”

Strutting their stuff in the neon-colored visual to a classic violin trap beat mix, the girls braggadociously boast about being both Pop stars and Rock stars, signing, “Whip it whip it whip it whip it / Keep watching me shut it down!”

From “Typa Girl” to “Ready for Love,” the albums continues to deliver bangers. “Yeah Yeah Yeah” serves jagged guitar riffs mixed with synthy-disco vibes. Then of course there’s “Tally,” which will have get your attention with its opening line, “I say ‘f*** it’ when I feel it,” and have you staying for the punk guitar tune.

Keeping things hype for 7 out of 8 tracks, Born Pink does feature one ballad, “The Happiest Girl in the World,” sung entirely in English. “I can stop the tears if I want to,” BLACKPINK sings about overcoming pain. And while we’re totally here for the variety and range, we love it most when BLACKPINK is serving up some girl power on a platter made of hype beats, just as they were born to do.
