According to Charli XCX she “was born to make dance music,” and that’s exactly what she’s continuing to do with brand new album Brat, set to arrive this summer.

“I came from the clubs.. xcx6 is the album i’ve always wanted to make,” Charli also noted in a recent X post. Then just 4 days later, she followed up with a post captioned, “Brat - this summer. 15 songs. 41:23 minutes long. on repeat,” alongside a lime green album graphic.
Brat will follow up Charli’s fifth album, Crash, released in March 2022. Hopefully, “this summer” means June, because we need, strike that, deserve, a Charli dance party ASAP.
While no additional information about the album was released, prior to announcing the album name, song amount and runtime, Charli did tease the first single, titled “Von Dutch” would arrive on Thursday, February 29…. And that day has arrived.
The first time we’ve heard from the singer since last year’s “Speed Drive,” from Barbie The Album, “Von Dutch” arrived with a Torso-directed video that opens with the singer strutting through Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris after evading the incessant paparazzi. From there, things get cray with a quickness.
After shedding her bottoms, leaving her in a white top, scarf, and just a pair of sheer black tights, Charli headbangs and bops around the terminal, before hopping the security gate and boarding an empty airplane. After thrashing around, hopping from row to row, running down the aisles, pushing over the drink cart, punching the camera, and basically being a destructive little demon, Charli pushes the camera and its operator down the aircraft’s stairs. All bruised and bloody, in her ripped sweater and tights, she struts down onto the tarmac.
Running to another plane and climbing up its wheel, the singer then dances on the airplane’s wing, striking poses and throwing punches. After free falling onto a luggage tug, Charli takes a ride to and on a conveyor belt, ending up at baggage claim, starring deep into the camera as the credits begin to roll.
Like we said… Crazy. But in the best way possible. See for yourself, check out the “Von Dutch” music video below.
