Keeping busy these last few years with her Vegas residency, her various businesses, becoming a mother, and just life in general -- it’s been a little while since Perry has released any new music, as her last full-length album, Smile, arrived in 2020.
That being said, according to Music News, sources reportedly close to Perry informed The Sun that the “Fireworks” singer plans to make 2024 a big year for music, having recently been writing her “most personal” music thus far.
“Katy has been working on her most personal album ever for much of the past two years,” said the source. “She has been doing it on her own terms and it is quite different from anything she has released before.”
Speaking about plans for an accompanying world tour, the source added, that “after so long spent on the West Coast of the US, she feels ready to tour again. The demand is there because she has so many hits, so taking her show on the road is bound to be a big draw.”
“The hope is that she can head out towards the end of 2024, but it is still being worked out.”
As we previously noted, Katy began the chatter by first teasing her new album back in August during one of her Vegas shows that officially concluded in November.
“If you can’t love me at my Witness or Smile era, then you can’t love me in my KP6 era,” Katy said from the stage, referring to the relatively lukewarm receptions her last two albums received.
Well, you heard it here folks — the odds are very high that new, very “personal” music from Katy Perry is headed our way in 2024. And maybe even by the end of it we’ll be queued up in a Ticketmaster waiting room to buy tickets to her world tour.
