There have been many great characters from children’s television shows over the years, but not many have reached the icon status of Pee-wee Herman.

But now, it's time to get to know the man who famously brought the character to life!

Deadline reports that HBO is currently developing a two-part documentary about the life of Pee-wee Herman actor Paul Reubens.

“I’ve been working with HBO since they were called Home Box Office. I’m honored and excited to continue my long history there. I love HBO, but I’m not going to marry them,” said Reubens.

The documentary will be produced by ‘Uncut Gems’ directors, Josh and Benny Safdie, per the outlet.

“We all know Pee-wee Herman; it’s time for the world to meet Paul Reubens,” said director Matt Wolf. “I can’t wait to share his story.”

Reubens appeared as Pee-wee in two movies: "Pee-wee's Big Adventure" and "Big Top Pee-wee." Both films were released in the '80s. He later reprised the role on the CBS Saturday morning show "Pee-Wee’s Playhouse" from 1986-90.

There's currently no release date for the documentary.

However, with Pee-wee Herman, you know it'll be worth the wait.
