
Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) - New figures released by the state's employment division show that Nevada continues to recover from the coronavirus pandemic, but some area are doing better than others.
According to the Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation’s (DETR) March 2021 economic report, Nevada’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 8.1 percent in March 2021, decreasing from 8.4 percent in February 2021, but up from 6.4 percent in March 2020.
Seasonally adjusted estimates account for regularly seen economic patterns, and the rest of the estimates in the release have not been seasonally adjusted.
In the three Metropolitan Statistical Areas, the unemployment rates in March of 2021 were 8.8 percent in the Las Vegas area, 4.6 percent in Reno, and 5.1 percent in the Carson area.
In Nevada’s counties the lowest unemployment rate was in Eureka County at 2.3 percent, while Clark County had the highest rate at 8.8 percent.
Since March 2020, all county’s unemployment rates decreased over the year, besides Clark County’s. Compared to the national unadjusted rate of 6.2 percent, only Clark County had an unemployment rather higher than the national average.
