In the battle of Hip Hop royalty, fans are awaiting albums from the final Big 3— Kendrick Lamar, Drake, and Kanye West. After getting long-awaited projects from Nas, J. Cole, Isaiah Rashad and more, this trifecta is all we need.
Kanye West has "released" his tenth studio album, DONDA, unofficially via his record-breaking listening events. The first two events were held in Atlanta's Mercedes-Benz Stadium and simultaneously streamed live on Apple Music. In total, the events racked in over 8.7M viewers. He will hosting a third DONDA listening event in Chicago and his album is rumored to officially release within this next week.
Drake and his forthcoming LP, Certified Lover Boy, was previously rumored to release top of 2021 and at the end of Summer 2021. Summer isn't technically over, but with Drake and Ye addressing a complicated feud between them, one fan felt that it was all a ploy for the world to prepare for a VERZUZ, that'll end in the men dropping their albums on the same day.
Meanwhile, K. Dot broke the internet last week when he announced he's working on his last album with his longtime label, Top Dawg Entertainment. He expressed gratitude in being part of such a "cultural imprint," but "there’s beauty in completion. And always faith in the unknown."
Honestly, out of the Big 3, we cannot predict who will drop first. Each of them are equally unpredictable, but if anything, our money is on Ye... maybe.
