Pumice is a very chatty guy who loves to talk, especially around feeding time.
He gives the sweetest head butts for attention. He is a great companion and seeks out closeness. He especially loves to sit by his friends.
Although he gets very excited around mealtime, he is mostly an easy-going guy who likes to nap in a comfortable spot. His face is truly one of a kind with scars that hint at a story he's unable to tell. He is the Richmond SPCA's resident greeter cat, whose habitat is near the entrance to the adoption center. He can often be found sitting at the front of his enclosure waiting to say hi to whoever walks by.

He has two common feline conditions, feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV) and feline leukemia virus (FeLV). Both are viruses that cats contract from each other that weaken the immune system. Because of these viruses, Pumice should live exclusively indoors, which he will love as he truly enjoys being by his people as much as possible! FIV does not typically shorten a cat's lifespan, but FeLV can. Fortunately, his form of the virus is dormant at the moment, and if it stays that way, his lifespan may not be affected. Neither of these conditions require daily medication or treatment, but any symptoms of illness should be checked out by a veterinarian right away, as his immune system won't play the normal role of handling it for him.

Richmond SPCA staff often say that both FIV and FeLV cats are some of the friendliest and most affectionate, and Pumice puts that on display!
Due to his FIV and FeLV status, he does need to be the only cat in the home, but he has so much personality, you won't need anyone else!
