Social distancing has altered our routines and has forced many anticipated events to be canceled. That doesn’t mean celebrations have to end.
June is Pride Month and there are still plenty of ways you can celebrate the LGBTQ+ community while maintaining safe social distancing efforts.
Here’s a few social distance activities you can partake in to celebrate Pride Month.
Stream A Celebration
Many of the nation’s most famous Pride Parades are going virtual this month and promise to offer exciting LGBTQ+ programming to help you celebrate at home. Gather the family together and “hop around” from city to city to take in all they have to offer.
Crafting
Just because Pride Parades have moved online doesn’t mean you can’t dress up for the occasion. Get your family together for a day of crafting Pride themed clothing and accessories. Whether you want to tie dye t-shirts or design Pride bracelets, there’s plenty of creative options at your disposal.
Dance Party
We’ve already got the perfect Pride playlist put together for you. All you need to do is gather your friends on a video call, hit play, and dance.
Learn About LGBTQ+ History
A great way to educate yourself about LGBTQ+ history is to check out this list of podcasts dedicated to the topic. Whether it’s talking about important moments in history or hearing personal stories from LGBTQ+ individuals, these podcasts will educate and entertain you.
Have A Small Gathering
Dress up in your finest Pride clothing and attire and have a small gathering with a couple friends at the park or in a backyard. Wear masks, stay six feet apart, and be sure to bring some snacks to enjoy the day.
