Baby Yoda merchandise is going to be the hottest purchase of 2020!
Since the alien’s debut on the Disney+ series “The Mandalorian,” fans have been patiently waiting to hand over their hard-earned coins for toys bearing The Child’s (that’s his official name) likeness.
Toys of the force-sensitive cutie were largely in demand over the holiday season, but given Baby Yoda’s overnight rise to stardom, Disney held back on production.
“Holding back on product development gave everyone the chance to discover the character affectionately known to fans as ‘Baby Yoda’ together. This is something special in the age of spoilers. I am so appreciative of the partnership with the teams at Lucasfilm and Disney who are translating these characters into products for fans to enjoy,” series creator John Favreau said in a statement to Variety.
But now, a slew of Baby Yoda products and toys are debuting at New York Toy Fair this weekend with many gearing up for a spring release.
Check out our gallery of merch available, and may the force be with you as you pre-order.
Disney’s Animatronic Baby Yoda
Disney unveiled an animatronic and lifelike version of The Child. Here’s the official description of the toy: “Touching the top of The Child’s head activates over 25 sound and motion combinations, including happy and excited sounds, giggles, babbles, and more, all while the toy’s head moves up and down, ears move back and forth, and eyes open and close. Boys and girls can pretend to harness the power of The Force as The Child toy closes its eyes, raises its arm, and sighs as if exerting a great amount of energy. Lay The Child toy down and it will close its eyes and take a ‘Force nap.'”
While the real Baby Yoda costs the studio $5 million, your own Baby Yoda will retail for $59.99. Now that’s a bargain! Since becoming available for pre-order on ShopDisney.com or Amazon, the toy has already sold out. It will be available in the fall.
Life-Size The Child
This is likely the most expensive version of The Child Toy. The life-size replica of the Disney+ breakout star is being offered up for $350. The doll measures 16.5 inches tall and is said to be “an incredible 1:1 scale Star Wars collectible.”
It comes mounted on a black base and adorned with a tan fabric coat, his trademark lovable big eyes, and holding the silver shift knob from the Mandalorian’s ship.
“Every inch of this incredibly lifelike figure has been meticulously detailed to recreate everything that 'Star Wars' fans love about the young alien, from the fuzz on its wrinkled head to its irresistible pout, all the way down to its tiny, toddling feet,” a press release on the merchandise’s website.
Build-A-Bear Baby Yoda
Build-A-Bear announced its Baby Yoda in 2019, but now, they’re revealing the plush for the first time. It’s unclear how much the stuffed animal will retail for, but you can sign up for email updates on the company's website for more information about the adorable spring release.
Lego Kit Featuring Baby Yoda
This lego kit will allow you to build Mando’s ship, the Razor Crest. Totaling 1,023 pieces, it comes with “five figurines, including an appropriately tiny Baby Yoda.” It is available for pre-order on ShopDisney.com for $130 and will be released September 1. You can also get Lego Brickheadz on Amazon for $20.
Hasbro Baby Yoda Collection
Every bounty hunter in the Galaxy is going to be chasing down Hasbro’s first collection of figurines based on the fan-favorite character.
Hasbro’s “The Child” collection is part of the “Star Wars The Bounty Collection” and is said to be “authentically styled after the Disney+ series.”The 2.2-inch collectible figures come in 2-packs with a total of 6 collectibles in the series. Each pack features The Child adopting fun poses like sleeping in his brown blankie, eating a Sorgan frog, playing with a ball, drinking his bone broth from a small cup, reaching over to press some buttons, and looking like he’s about to cry.
Hasbro is also selling a 6.5-inch figure ($17.99) which comes with multiple points of articulation so kids can pose The Child however they’d like.
Baby Yoda FunkoPops
Baby Yoda’s Funko Pop will be available in two sizes: a standard 3.75-inch figure retailing at $12.99 and a near-life-sized 10-inch version for $26.99.
Despite being depicted in an egg-shaped floating crib in the series, the Funko Pop Baby Yoda stands tall and proud in his fuzzy brown jacket. He’s holding his little finger up to either summon the Force, press the red button in the Mandalorian’s ship, or change the radio station.
Baby Yoda Board Games
Baby Yoda’s popularity has even influenced board games. Classic board games Operation ($20) and Trouble ($15) will debut Mandalorian-themed versions this spring. This version of Operation focuses on the player picking up Baby Yoda’s toys rather than performing surgery.
