Yes, it’s true! On Saturday, October 23 Saweetie will be joining Black Eyed Peas, Coldplay, Doja Cat, Maroon 5, Shawn Mendes, and The Kid LAROI at the iconic Hollywood Bowl for an evening focused on supporting I’m Listening’s goal of taking care of our mental health just as we would our physical health.
So in honor of our favorite Icy Girl joining Audacy’s already sold out WCS lineup, we put together a list — 5 reasons why we’re obsessed with Saweetie and you should be too. From red carpet moments to music videos, it was difficult to chose only five, though somehow we managed. Check them out below.
For giving us "ICY GRL" - both the song and the term
ICY GRL
- noun
Charging by the minute cuz her time is really pricey.
Though the track dropped in 2017, it wasn’t until the next year that Saweetie had us all saying “Icy Girl,” and tbh we haven’t really stopped since. For those who don’t know, an Icy Girl, though high maintenance is a woman that knows what she wants, and is focused on securing the bag. She's always on her grind, determined to get what she wants, and in case that wasn’t enough, looks good while doing it.
That Jack Harlow BET Awards red carpet moment
Y’all remember when Jack Harlow tried to shoot his shot with Saweetie on the BET Awards red carpet? Yeah... who doesn’t. But it was Saweetie’s reaction that had us SCREAMING and got us even more obsessed with her than we already were.
"Best Friend" music video with Doja Cat
Do we even need to give you a reason why.
When she clapped back at Quavo’s break-up tweet
Saweetie said NOT TODAY, Take Care! Well actually she said —“ I’m single. I've endured too much betrayal and hurt behind the scenes for a false narrative to be circulating that degrades my character. Presents don't band aid scars and the love isn't real when the intimacy is given to other women.” Short and saweet and to the point, and just another reason we’re obsessed with her.
She's "tapped in" to the importance of self love and self care
During an interview with LADYGUNN Magazine earlier this year, Saweetie had the following to say about importance of both self-care and self-love: “Self-love is being conscious of self and making sure that you’re taking care of yourself,” she explains. “It’s almost as if it’s a high maintenance requirement to take care of yourself spiritually, physically, mentally. It’s about being conscious of all of the things that you intake, think and say. When you love yourself, you don’t want to pollute your mind, body, soul, and spirit and you protect yourself from the things that pollute the important things.”
