Although there's no explicit nudity involved, Halsey's new S&M-themed music video for their single "safeword" definitely had us looking over our shoulders in the office today.

Well, we were certainly warned that Halsey’s visualizer for “safeword” would be “NOT SAFE FOR WORK. OR THE BUS. OR BRUNCH WITH YOUR PARENTS. OR YOUR JEALOUS BOYFRIEND,” but nothing could have prepared us for the final product. You may want to wait untli you get home for this one.
Obviously a tongue-in-cheek take on S&M culture, the new Punk-infused track's accompanying music video, directed by Lana Jay Lackey, portrays the singer in various, shall we say, "Shades of Grey." Filling both submissive and dominant roles throughout the clip, Halsey is seen donning spiky-leather looks, chains, latex, and in various states of undress all while being suspended upside down, receiving spankings, being tied up and made into a human lamp, and more.
"safeword" is the first official material from Halsey since their fifth studio album, The Great Impersonator, released in October 2024.
Halsey is set to hit the road on a North American headlining tour kicking off in the Spring featuring support from special guests Del Water Gap, The Warning, Evanescence, Alvvays, Hope Tala, Sir Chloe, Royel Otis, flowerovlove, Magdalena Bay, and Alemeda across select dates. Tickets are on sale now.
