The 7th Heaven alum and former boy bander welcomed baby Phineas last summer after a private pregnancy. Which Biel spoke about being no easy feat, relatably revealing how she and Timberlake have been dealing with some recent parenting challenges.
One difficulty in particular is sleep training for Phineas, who Jessica reveals "was doing so great and then all of his teeth started to come in.”
"Now nobody is sleeping again," she said. As Biel explained, sleep training involves allowing a baby (teething or not) to cry until drifting off to sleep, which as a mother, Jessica admitted to at first finding particularly difficult to do.
"It's so hard to let them cry for even a few minutes. And that's sort of the sleep training we were doing, which is… you just let them go or a couple minutes then you go in and go 'You're good. You're fine,'" she explained, adding that Phineas "did a beautiful job.”
"We never really followed through with Silas in a big way with the sleep training. I think it was because he was a first child, we were nervous, we couldn't bear the thought. Now it's like, 'Yeah, yeah, yeah, you're going to be fine. You're going to make it. You'll be okay.’"
When asked if having two kids is harder than one, Jessica confirmed that it's definitely not easy and a bit more difficult than she had anticipated, calling the experience a "wild, crazy, fun ride.”
"A very wise friend of mine said, 'One is a lot, and two is a thousand,'" she joked. "That is exactly the way it feels. You're like, man-on-man defense, one person's here, the other person is over here.”
However, despite the chaos, as Jessica explained, there is a silver lining - the adorable bond between her kids share. "It is so cute to see these two together," Jessica shared. "They both think the other one is hilarious. Silas, he is the performer, he wants to make the jokes and he wants all the attention on him, so Phin only has eyes for him. Everything that Silas does is hilarious and then anything that Phin does is hilarious. So they just laugh at each other all day long.”
Ugh, How adorable. Check out Jessica and Ellen's entire conversation above.
