Mayer is set to release his eighth studio album Sob Rock on July 16 and gave fans a sneak peek at the record by sharing the new song “Late Train Home.” It’s Toto meets The Breakfast Club as the track is a straight flashback to the 1980s complete with synth keyboard stabs and slick guitar licks.

The music video features Mayer dressed in a leather jacket and sporting a hot pink electric guitar. Maren Morris also makes a special appearance at the end of the video as she sports a phenomenal black leather jacket with tassels hanging off her arms.

Yes, the 1980s are alive and well my friends.

The collaboration between Mayer and Morris stems from the duo’s appearance together at the 2021 GRAMMY Awards.

At the awards show, Morris and Mayer took the stage to give a rousing rendition of the Country star’s hit single “The Bones.”
