The song originally debuted as a solo track on Fletcher’s Girl Of My Dreams album which released September 2022. Just months later, Ballerini penned a verse for the tune which quickly became a collab and released via Fletcher’s release of Girl Of My Dreams Deluxe CD in November 2022.
Ballerini brought a new level of emotion to an already chilling track as her verses seem to speak directly to her recent divorce from fellow Country artist, Morgan Evans. While the lyrics alone are enough to move you to tears, the pair take their artistry to new heights as they live out the ups and downs of relationships with lovers in the gripping music video.
“The video captures the unraveling of two different love stories,” Fletcher, an LGBTQ+ representing artist told Rolling Stone. “Something Kelsea and I both really wanted to bring to life as we really connected on the real emotions of what closing a chapter feels like. And while the love may be different, we still all go through the same emotions.”
Added Ballerini “It takes you on the parallel journey of two love stories…from the passion and happy beginnings, to the unraveling, to ultimately the betterment of yourself with the humans that meet you there.”
