Ms. Lauryn Hill made a surprise appearance midway through Wyclef Jean’s set Friday night (July 1). The bandmates teamed up at the Caesars Superdome to perform multiple Fugees classics including “How Many Mics,” “Fu-Gee-La,” and “Ready Or Not.” Hill also delivered a solo rendition of “Killing Me Softly.”
The Essence Fest performance follows the cancellation of the Fugees' 25th anniversary tour. The group planned a 12-date international reunion tour to celebrate their GRAMMY-winning album The Score, but the dates were canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. "We anticipate and understand disappointment but our anniversary tour will not be able to happen,” The Fugees said in a statement earlier this year.

The Fugees (including Pras) last performed together at Global Citizen Festival in New York last September, marking the trio’s first show since 2006.
