During a conversation with Audacy’s Karson and Kennedy on Mix 104.1, Lizzo discussed her definition of success and highlighted the path she is pursuing now that her new single, “Rumors,” is out.
The “Truth Hurts” artist addressed how fan bases can often “weaponize” the idea of being successful based on charting numbers. Between TikTok and other social media platforms, Lizzo said, “If I’m going to enter the fray I want to enter with…a level head. I don’t want to let all of this get to me…”

She continued “In reality, the fact that you’ve even put out a song that people love enough to stream, to even be in the conversation is a feat.”
Addressing mental health and using social media as a tool to tell her own stories and help others, Lizzo notes, “that’s the reason why I do it because people don’t always express themselves…who wants to go on the internet and vulnerable when you’re being attacked constantly?”
“I do it to create a new narrative around what it means to exist on the internet,” explained the artist.
Finally, before wrapping up Lizzo addresses the rumors that have been flying around her and her internet husband, Chris Evans, in relation to the remake of the film The Bodyguard. Not letting on much, the singer simply said, “it would be fun to do the movie…”
